Eligible locations must be within:

  • One of these municipalities:
    • Auburn
    • Augusta
    • Bangor
    • Biddeford
    • Dover-Foxcroft
    • Lewiston
    • Norway
    • Oxford
    • Portland
    • Sanford
    • South Portland
    • Westbrook
  • Within 1 mile of the nearest multifamily publicly supported property (verify using Preservation Database)

Note: Efficiency Maine may award multiple sites within eligible communities.

Charging Infrastructure Requirements:

Component Specification
Minimum Configuration
  • 2 DC Fast Charger ports
  • 2 Level 2 charging ports
  • Must support simultaneous charging of 4 EVs
DCFC Connector Requirements Minimum one permanent CCS Type 1 connector
Level 2 Specifications
  • J1772 connector required
  • Minimum 6kW charging capability
Technical Standards
  • ISO 15118-3 compliance required
  • Hardware must support ISO 15118-2 and ISO 15118-20
  • OCPP 2.0.1 or higher compliance required
  • OCPI 2.2.1 network compatibility required

Program Timeline

October 24, 2024: Program officially closed
July 23, 2024: RFP opened for DCFC and Level 2 charger combinations in designated communities
