TPU Community EV Charging Rebate by Tacoma Public Utilities

Tacoma Public Utilities (TPU) offers the TPU Community EV Charging program to support the installation of Level 2 EV charging infrastructure in multifamily buildings and commercial properties with owned parking areas. The program provides prescriptive rebates for both networked and non-networked chargers, with higher incentives available for priority projects located in low or very low zones on the Pierce County Equity Index Map. In addition to the rebates, projects are also eligible for utility infrastructure upgrade funding on the utility side of the meter.

Program Notes Customers who receive State or Federal grant funding for Level 2 charging stations cannot apply Tacoma Power’s Rebate to the ports approved via their grant award. Tacoma Power will provide up to a $10,000 Rebate from the Disbursement Funds for utility side infrastructure upgrades related to the project.

Standard Level 2 Networked Charger
  • Rebate Type: Prescriptive
  • Must be a multi-family building/property or commercial building with an owned parking area
  • Projects are also eligible for up to $10,000 in utility infrastructure upgrades (utility side of the meter)
  • Maximum $50,000 per project
  • Rebate Details: Lesser of $5,000 per Port OR 100% of Project Cost
Priority Level 2 Networked Charger
  • Rebate Type: Prescriptive
  • Priority projects must be located in the Low or Very Low zones on the Pierce County Equity Index Map
  • Must be a multi-family building/property or commercial building with an owned parking area
  • Projects are also eligible for up to $10,000 in utility infrastructure upgrades (utility side of the meter)
  • Maximum $70,000 per project
  • Rebate Details: Lesser of $10,000 per Port OR 100% of Project Cost
Level 2 Non-Networked Charger
  • Rebate Type: Prescriptive
  • Must be a multi-family building/property or commercial building with an owned parking area
  • Projects are also eligible for up to $7,000 in utility infrastructure upgrades (utility side of the meter)
  • Maximum $15,000 per project
  • Applies to standard and priority projects
  • Rebate Details: Lesser of $2,000 per Port OR 100% of Project Cost
